Valve Introduces "Achievements"

Interesting, looks like Valve has introduced Achievements (just like XBL) into their games (TF2, Episode 2, Portal) on the PC.

Looking at the Steam load-out continue to grow by leaps and bounds, is the goal eventually to make your achievements and “gamer score” percolate across all these games just like XBox Live?

I really like seeing what Valve has done with Steam, they are effectively creating the best-of-breed of XBox Live + Playstation Network but for the PC… where you not only have your community, reputation and personal information, but you also get your games digitally, play with your friends, etc.

Also for the folks that haven’t tried out the new community stuff and in-game chat and invites that launched with TF2, it’s slick! Click SHIFT-TAB.

I don’t know how Microsoft is going to people to pay for GFW live when Steam and all its community features are free.
