MaxiVista allows you to use your iPad as a second monitor for your computer (for $9.99).
Using what I imagine is some form of VNC, MaxiVista lets you quick bond your iPad to a broadcast source like your desktop or laptop and treat the iPad as a secondary desktop display:
For things like fullscreen video from Hulu it looks a little jerky; we would assume due to the lag introduced by wirelessly transmitting compressed visual data to the iPad then having it decoded on the fly and displayed.
What impressed us the most was the seamless use of the iPad as a secondary screen – dragging and dropping apps onto it (like Microsoft Office) and then marking it fullscreen or putting it into Portrait mode and having it resize the contained window appropriately.
Very very slick stuff.
If you are a business traveler and always have your laptop and iPad with you, we absolutely see $10 worth of value to this software to take on the road with you.
If you are at home with a 30″ LCD monitor, then maybe you could just put IM chats on the iPad window?
Thanks Grant Gochnauer for sending this in!
