A while ago I ran across a post on Digg (maybe a year ago?) that was titled “There are no ugly women”, and while I raised my hand in protest I clicked the link, and soon realized what they were trying to say: With enough makeup and primping, there is no such thing as an ugly woman.
Consider the following:
Looking at those women you think to yourself: “Yep, ugly women… I’ve probably seen them shopping at Wal-Mart with 9 kids en-tow”. The women above were actually 9 finalists in the show “The Swan” and were picked because of their ultimate makeovers, the result of their make over is pretty astounding:

There are some hotties in there and I was seriously amazed you could go from A to B like that without just having a body double for the show.
Anyway, this was the first thing I thought of when I saw over on The Superficial that Bai Ling had been arrested for shop lifting $16 worth of junk on the day after Valentine’s day from an LA airport:
good god… are you sure this is the normal Bai Ling that is constantly having “nipple slips” with every single wardrobe she wears? I don’t even think they are nipple slips as much as Bai Ling just likes to wear her breasts on the outside of her outfits.

She’s definitely heavier in Monster, but you cannot discredit how much of a difference good makeup and hair makes… it’s just amazing.
For many years I’ve been telling young guys that the hottie all the guys in the bar are drooling over is no prettier than the plainer woman they ignore. The difference is packaging. And the less-fancy woman will probably be nicer (less spoiled), more receptive to you, and likely better in bed.
My wife is an attractive woman — lots cuter IMO than the unadorned Bai Ling — when she’s hanging around the house or her painting studio, but she can and does fix herself up to the “Wow!” level when we go out to a place or event that warrants it.
The trick is to see through the packaging.

I think you are exactly right on all accounts… and there are definitely times when the wife’s “bumming around the house” look just turns you on… not sure what it is, but it probably has a lot to do with the personality connection that exists below the surface that ends up making everything better.

Charlize Theron can hardly be compared from normal to Monster. I studied this film on my film studies course, and they revealed on the behind the scenes stuff that not only did she put on weight, but she was in make-up for two and a half hours every day and they used some kind of latex mixture to spray a new, wrinkly-er skin on top of hers, then they did the redneck colour, then the freckles, and finally dirtied it up a bit. eseentially they did it all by spray-painting onto the fake plastic skin, so pretty much none of what you see in the film has anything to do with the real Charlize Theron

I think you missed the entire point of the post, which was “there is no such thing as an ugly woman.”
It’s hidden right up there in the title and again in the first paragraph… and then supported with the content of the entirety of the post. I’m not sure who you were quoting with the post about “beautiful women”, that wasn’t written anywhere.
The Swan was a brutal show though… that’s not just hair and makeup that they had for makeovers. The whole point of the show was that the women were also subjected to plastic surgery. I feel that yes, many of those girls would have simply “cleaned up nice” and looked lovely with a nice dress and some professional makeup, but they were subjected to lipo, nose jobs, laser treatments, implants, etc.
Is that mug shot even her? the mole seems smaller and higher than the other pic where she looks a little bit better. She looks like a tranny in the mug shot.
All due respect to Charlize Theron, one of the best actors in the business, neither of those photos depicts what she looks like “normally.”
In the pic on the left, she’s stylized and made up to conform to beauty standards and then photoshopped to conform even more.
In the pic on the right, she’s stylized and made up to look like a chronically abused, marginalized woman who doesn’t have a pilates instructor and an aesthetician on her personal staff.

Its not Bai Ling. She does bare a resemblance but its not her. The mole isn’t even in the right place. As far as packaging goes, if a girl (or guy for that matter) takes pride in their self enough to take time to do it up right then GREAT but they will still leave with the same guy/girl their personality attracts.
The difference is between a bar and a club when going “out”.
Going to a club most of us don’t go to find Mr./Mrs. Right just to find Mr./Mrs. Right now so the looks do count a lot more then in a pub/bar. It really is her. When she smiles the mole looks further down on her face. Also, it is very normal to have to repaint the mole after all that pancake is applied.

I work in advertising. It is pretty interesting to see how easily people feed into media’s portrayal of our beloved celebs. You have no idea how much retouching and airbrushing takes place after a photo shoot. Before these images are ever released they are looked at with a fine tooth comb and edited and edited until perfection. Movement of a tiny mole is the least of it. They create entirely new noses, change bone structure, air brush the skin, remove any remnant of fat…etc. Point is…I could care less if this is Bai Ling, although it probably is; however, the placement of her mole is no indication!
You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.
Bai Ling may not be done up in her mug shot but her skin is still beautiful. I think she is hot even in that photo.

First of all, it would be very naive to believe that picture is how Charlize really looks like, they made a huge effort to make her UGLY! In real life, she’s a beautiful woman, imo, of course everyone looks more glamourous and attractive with a little make up (too much is just not real anymore), but you have to look at the face on its whole, not how nice the skin looks, how much wrinkles she has, … That, people, is superficial and the living proof is that when you look at people (whether on tv or not) who are always made up very carefully and always take care of themselves, there are a lot of them that look really hidious (so than it h snothing to do with make up, …), but the person that has a really beautiful face, you will notice has nothing to do with putting on some make up or stuff.
Another thing that really annoys me are those stupid paparazzi. They take one picture of a famous person and than say wow! Look how they really look! Has no one ever noticed that those pictures are always the worst pictures ever taken of that person? I mean when you’re drunk, your make up has smuttered and you’re making a funny face, how can anyone look attractive that way!? Than when you do some research yourself and try to find some more pictures of that particular person, I always find a dozen of pictures where they’re also make up-less, but looking much better.
Before you go ranting and raving about whether or not it is Bai Ling, do a little research people. There are times when the woman has no mole at all, if anything is a fake here, it’s the bloody mole! Aside from that, you can find this photo, which is quite real, anywhere that pleases you. As well you can find the record of Bai Ling’s arrest if you would like, seeing as though it is public record.

Not all Chinese women sells their bodies. There are wealthy ones that make their living by having a job in decent industries e.g. the fashion industry. some people need to think before they type shit! plus, most countries have whore…even here in England there are English chavs making there way through the neighbourhood, catching all sexual diseases and getting pregnant at 15yrs. now that what I call whores living off benefits from tax payers.

I can tell that none of you have had any real experience with truly beautiful women. My three best friends in New York were fashion models and I can tell you that no trickery was involved in their beauty. They were simply the most gorgeous things I have ever seen. Breathtaking. And although they could use makeup, they mostly didn’t bother unless on a photo shoot where they had to to get the effect the photographer was looking for in the final print..
There is no amount of makeup or lighting that is going to make an ugly woman look beautiful. They can be made to look good, but not beautiful.

I met and got to know Bai Ling out in L.A. about six or seven years ago. She was a party animal at that time and sadly, absolutely insane. Despite this unfortunately photo, I saw her without makeup on several occasions and she was still quite beautiful. This photo is, I think a mug shot form one of her many run-ins with the law. While I agree that makeup, lighting and hair can pretty much make anyone look great, at least from one angle, I think it unfair of of you to use her as a whipping post. She is a very sweet if very sad person. Leave her alone.
And one other thing. Charlize Theron was heavily, heavily made up for her role in “Monster”. Not only did she put on some forty pounds but she had on prosthetics as well and “burn” makeup to make her skin look sun baked. That comparison is just wrong.

I am, or was, a glamour/figure photographer, from back in the days of film, and before photoshop.
I can say catagorically, that very few women are really beautiful, straight out of the shower, or sea.
The few that are, stand out then. The rest, its all makeup and subterfuge.

True. I worked on a Sports Illustrated shoot some years ago and there are few women that are a knockout at any time, day or night. Vendela Kersebaum was one of them. She looked better at four i the morning right out of bed in a t-shirt with her hair a mess then most women do on the red carpet. Another one that was truly that beautiful was Cindy Crawford. I met her when she was sixteen and she was so beautiful that it was painful to look at her.
Another was a Penthouse centerfold named Susan Napoli. Just breathtaking with or without makeup.

Wow. First of all the women of the Swan are truly ugly. The first thing they do is give these women 20-$40K of dental work. In the first season they would put the pricetag on the screen. Then they give them micro dermabrasion. I make them lose 50-60 pounds. Do you think you can get some fugly you find at the mall to do all of that?

Those women weren`t really ugly… and one of the commenters are right. It all depends on facial structure. Me for example. Someone can give me a makeover, but because of my facial bone structure, I`m probably going to still look like crap. Someone people are just ugly, and no amount of makeup will help.

Interesting I don’t think the Swan girls were ugly before. Bai Ling isn’t ugly in that picture either. Maybe their hair makeup and clothes are ugly but they have nice features to start with.
