After seeing CryENGINE at work with games like Crysis, Crysis: Warhead and Crysis 2, I’ve always wondered “Why don’t more MMOs use this engine to create incredible realistic worlds that I can adventure around in?” I mean, jesus, just look at this completely dialed out screenshot from Crysis 2 on max quality setting:
You should really click to enlarge that to appreciate how detailed that scene is. As someone who played through the first Crysis on graphical settings higher than my NVIDIA 8800 GTS would have preferred, I thought a few portions of that game looked as good as the above, so I totally accept that Crytek is likely rendering scenes like that in Crysis 2.
I digress…
It seems that at GDC this year, Polygon Games (I could not fine a website that wasn’t for children math games) is showing off their CryENGINE 2-powered game codenamed “Project E:st”.
The title will be coming to the US as well as Europe (in addition to Asia) when it’s ready. VE reports that a closed-beta will begin in Korea late 2010.
