So “thanks” goes to Ben Vanik for sending this one in. A little monkey at the Honolulu Zoo grabbed a frog in it’s pen, pried it’s mouth open and forced the frog to give him… the good stuff:
The most disturbingly funny part of the whole video is when he’s done violating the frog, he stuffs it under his arm for later, only to have the video cut to a different scene where he’s busted the frog out for a quick romp in the hay again.
While Ben pointed out he was waiting for the more respectable 2001 Space Odyssey moment where the chimps first learn to use tools and move to the 2nd stage of intelligence… I suppose this sort of counts?
Update #1: Can anyone else see the monkey, with a husky red-neck accent, saying to the frog “You got a reel purdy mouth…”?
Update #2: Watching that poor little frog’s legs dangle and flair around during this whole… fiasco… I just feel so bad for it.
Update #3: Behavior like this for primates is hardly uncommon:
Update #4: If you are a South Park fan, Mr/Mrs. Garrison clarifies how evolution selects for this type of behavior and lead to theory of evolution (from “Go God Go”, Episode 12 Season 10):http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5027481876893938900
