WARNING: The new 196.75 graphics drivers from NVIDIA that just came out 1 or 2 days ago are causing the fans on people’s cards to die and then their graphic cards to subsequently melt and destroy themselves (I don’t know if they are melting, but they are overheating and in some cases killing the hardware).
Official word from NVIDIA is to downgrade to the previous driver version (196.21) immediately to avoid the problem.
I’m very curious if NVIDIA plans on replacing any of the hardware that has failed? I saw the upgraded drivers and didn’t upgrade just by chance (since I had just installed the ones before the latest ones and was lazy).
Thank god for apathy…
