Ted Regulski just sent along this smoking link to the NeoGAF forums for a Kmart coupon of 20% off any purchase that basically brings all the major consoles down to the following prices:
- Playstation 3: $320
- XBox 360: $280
- Wii: $199
Apparently the coupons are fine to print out and use, take note of the dates on the coupons as well:
A user confirmed using it here. This holiday season is going to be an orgy of HDTVs and gaming consoles… everyone get ready to burn up the little nest egg you were saving because these companies want your cash

or $230 for the x-box arcade edition
It works! I just got a 80gig PS3 for $430 out the door.
Shit JW that’s awesome, congrats!
Grab any games with it?
No, just Motor Storm that came with it. The coupon was only for 1 item. I’m going to pick some games up this weekend.
Check out the poll on the right for suggestions.
I have Assassin’s Creed and will be doing a writeup soon, if you like playing slower more methodical games (like Splinter Cell) you will LOVE it… if you are a huge FPS fan and can’t stand slower games, I’d probably say pass it up, because alot of it is getting into character and walking around the world experiencing it… it’s not everyone’s bag.
Rachet & Clank is just pure fun up and down. It’s not real hard, so you aren’t all stressed out about dying, and the action is over the top with a hugely satisfying “collect the bolts that spray out of dead enemies” mechanic that appeals to my OCD side quite a bit.
When you wanna just have a good time, sit down and play a game, Rachet & Clank is where it’s at. It also has this “level up your weapons” mechanic that makes it really replayable.
Lastly, if you are into the Tomb Raider-esque games, but want a deeper story with more action and everything, Uncharted is going to be the big hit. If you HATE Tomb Raider-esque games, skip it… but it’s more movie like than TR, with a lot of cutscenes, character development, interesting story and so on… so if you tend to like adventure games like TR, it will be right up your alley.
As far as “blind carnage fun”, I thought Soldier of Fortune Payback was going to be a keeper, but turns out the mechanics are so poor in the game that it’s just a stupid waste of time. So skip that one no matter what (it’s a truely budget title)
And if you love crime drama stories, Kane and Lynch seems to be the title to get. Some folks felt the shooting (similar to hitman, sporadic at long distances, you have to fire in bursts) and lock-on cover mechanic were shoddy and made it annoying, but others (like Game Trailers review) had no problems with that stuff and generally really liked the story.
So that’s an “on the fence” title, but if you tend to lean in that direction, I imagine it would be fun.
Oh yea, and UT3 is coming in December if you want to wait for it… if you are a FPS fan, that is a must-have title, the polish on that puppy and smooth 60 FPS on the PS3 is just awesome.
Hope that helps a bit
Thanks for the info! It’ll help me get started.
hey man whats your best price for a ps3 or xbox 360 ? im 12 and i need a good price for one cause i need gta iv
Stan,
Unfortunately unless you try and wing it on eBay and get lucky, you are still going to pay a pretty penny for either. The Xbox/20GB will be the cheaper of the two for you, I think it’s $250 or 300 now… I don’t keep track of the prices too closely.
See if you can talk your parents into getting/wanting a Blu-ray player, then sell them on the PS3 though, that might be a better way to go
