You have heard this 1000 times:
I am building a new gaming rig and want it to run crazy fast. Should I pay 2x the price for the super-fast gaming memory?
The short answer is no. Take a look at some of the results of benchmarking the latest cutting edge DDR3-1800 memory from OCZ here. If you scroll down the middle “1333mhz” column, comparing all the different memory with all the different timings, the biggest difference you see is 2fps… 2fps for memory that probably costs you 2x the price to put it in your gaming rig.
If you want to argue that these games are CPU or Video Card limited, that’s fine. Scroll back to the bandwidth tests and look at the result there as well. Same story, besides a slight peak, there is very little different.
Save your money and buy good/quality bundles of ram as opposed to the crazy latest ram with blinking lights on it =/
