Google gPhone Talks Expand (T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint)

Todd Swarthout sent in a link from the Wall Street Journal reporting that Google’s talks with US phone carriers are expanding past the original rumored T-Mobile and they are in “advanced talks” with Verizon and Spring currently.

No news on where they stand with AT&T/Cingular at the moment, but with Apple raping AT&T with the iPhone, and Google entering the market with a sub-standard cost to launching phones on their software platform, things could turn in Google’s favor rather quickly.

WSJ is also noting that the gPhone platform will be an open platform, allowing 3rd party development to expand the phone’s usability and software offerings which will turn into user demand. With that kind of user demand and then support on all the major cell networks, Google is poised to make a huge splash in the cell market from both a user end and a business-friendly end.

Interesting!
