“Clear” is a fast-pass-esque air-travel system run by a 3rd party company that allows passengers to pay $100/year to pre-register all their humanly personal information in exchange for what amounts to a “fast pass through security” card seen on the left.
The only down-side is what happens when all that insane amount of personal information is stolen? Those people, that are paying $100/year to run through security, suddenly become prime targets for identity theft and if anything else, should now be under more scrutiny than normal passengers in the airport.
About a week ago a laptop containing all the registered participant’s information in unencrypted format was stolen from San Francisco International Airport. It seems that all 33,000 of the registered users using the Clear system (and paying their $100/year fee) are now prime candidates for identity theft and will likely put on a watch-list of some kind by the TSA to keep an eye on those identities to see if they are every compromised.
How beautiful is that? A system who’s sole purpose is to remove the retardation that the government created in response to all the non-terrorism we were having, will nowl likely find themselves on a semi-terror watch list of some kind?
Thanks Slashdot!
