Apple Mass-Purchases Touchscreens from Wintek — For Netbooks?

apple-netbook-macbook-nano-mockup

While it’s surely a mockup right now, the picture above might not be so far off from a 10″ Mac Netbook from Apple rumored to be approaching Q3 of 2009.

The movement in the industry that seems to have tipped Apple’s hand early (besides everyone waiting for a Netbook from Apple for about 20 years now) is their deal with Taiwan-based Wintek to supply touch-screen panels for the upcoming Netbooks.

DigiTimes reports that Quanta Computers will be producing the Netbooks for Apple and shipment will begin later this year.

I don’t think anyone is ever surprised anymore when these Apple rumors or mockups surface, you sort of know they are going down these paths (e.g. iPhone), the real curiosity is figuring out what sexiness they are adding to the mix.

God knows the Netbook will be running OS X and it will have multi-touch just like the iPhone… but the question is what else are they going to do? Maybe it’s a tablet only with no keyboard? Maybe it’s got 12hr life span? Maybe it’s got a wireless charger?

These are the things that keep us up at night…
