Interesting… it looks like there is going to be a Live Action remake of Akira in 2009. So far the two rumored roles for the leads (for the main guy and his friend that gets sucked into the government experiment) are:
both actors I love (DiCaprio after The Aviator and The Departed… he really came into his own in the last few movies… I love the guy now).

Also Blood, love it and *definitely* want to see more. I have no idea why they didn’t have more movies after that first one… brilliant animation.
Akira is one of those movies that are just too awesome to watch. Sure some people don’t get it the first time around, but by the 2nd time its awesomeness kicks in.
I’m one of those people, I need to rent it again.. totally missed what was so eye-bulgingly awesome the first time through… was mostly confused

They should do it right-were in these screwed up times and Akira would fit the script, it was anime, but in the flesh would really do the trick.
